Step into the elegant Mural Room of the Providence Public Library for a sketching event where stories leap off the shelves and onto the pages of your sketchbook. Once Upon a Line is a special edition of Sketchbook Fight Club that celebrates the library as a place of imagination and transformation. Through playful prompts and drawing games, we’ll turn characters, symbols, and fragments of fiction into new forms in your sketchbook.

No experience required; supplies available.

What to Expect:

Providence-based artist Kit Miklik will lead the group through:

• Warm-Ups: Quick, low-pressure drawing games to shake off hesitation and loosen your hand.

• Story Sparks: A mini drawing lesson with prompts inspired by the library's collections.

• Sketch Time: A chance to build out your own visual stories in a supportive, playful environment with music and optional prompts.

• Optional Sharing: Share your sketches and see the stories others have drawn—or let yours remain untold.
