Community Night @ the Library

  • Rochambeau Library 708 Hope Street Providence, RI, 02906 United States (map)

Join us for "Community Night", a free event where we’re teaming up with the Rochambeau Library to take down the biggest creative enemy of all: the blank page. Join us as we dive into 60 minutes of fearless, judgment-free drawing designed to shake off perfectionism, spark creativity, and celebrate our unique styles.

What to Expect:

  • Warm-Up: Fearless Lines – We’ll start with a quick, fun warm-up where you’ll tackle the page with continuous lines, capturing shapes without lifting your pen. This exercise is all about losing control and letting creativity take over.

  • Challenge: Unlikely Heroes – For our main sketching challenge, we’ll create “Unlikely Heroes.” Think of a quirky character—a gardener wizard, a robotic chef, a bookworm adventurer—someone who’s wildly unexpected. With no pressure to perfect, this is a chance to explore, experiment, and let your imagination go wild.

  • Independent Sketch Time – After the warm-up and challenge, spend time sketching on your own, either continuing the Unlikely Heroes prompt or working on any project you like. Whether you’re here to fill pages, try something new, or just enjoy the creative vibes, this time is yours.

  • Optional Sharing – Wrap up by sharing your work, if you’d like. This is a space to celebrate each other’s creations, cheer on each person’s journey, and get friendly, constructive support if you want it.

Come prepared to draw, connect, and leave inspired! All levels are welcome—no experience required. Just bring your willingness to break that blank page and a sketchbook & pen/pencil if you have them.

Note: Materials will be provided as needed for those who need them thanks to the generosity of our Sketchbook Fight Club members and the Community Libraries of Providence.
